WATCH OUT FOR WRONG CHARGES! They say that Memorial Herman Hospital charges $130 for ‘FACILITIES”, NO MATTER WHAT; even if it is just a follow up (according to Alba). This is a lie because I also go to a different doctor (same building), and only pay my $40 copay, the same at countless hospitals I have visited in Houston. This is a very arbitrary charge because no hospital or office’s doctor charges for additional facilities, unless the patient is treated for special issues needing special facilities different from the doctor’s office.

I called BlueCross BlueShield, and confirmed that I am not supposed to pay for any other charge, except for consultation. One thing is to sign admitting possible charges in the case a further procedure is necessary, and something else is to be assured that you will be charged for ‘FACILITIES”, even if you don’t use them. They might want to justify saying that it was a misunderstanding; that it is a regular procedure to sign for it, and that they won’t charge, unless additional facilities are used, but I clearly asked Alba to clarify, and she said I would be charged, no matter what. She was not exactly kind with BCBS, when speaking by phone either.

I wasted my time going to this place, because I am not going to let them get away with wrong charges. The weird thing is that the first time, I went through the same process, and they did not charge for the supposed facilities, even though I got an EKG performed, so this time being a follow-up should be no exception, but Alba said that I had to pay because it was different circumstances. Really? A simple follow up must pay for facilities, or you wanted to get rid of me, because you don’t like patients that stand up for their rights? From the first appointment, I could tell they did not like me calling BCBS to confirm coverage.
