I used this company, now called Canopy Landscape, to cut in beds and prepare for planting at a new house. The bid included removal of sod, addition of topsoil ammendments and mulch. The crew had the soil and mulch dumped between my house and the neighbors. It was supposed to be a 1 day job. They left the job before completing with the pile of mulch still in the street to finish the next day. I expressed concern to the owner when I saw that the workers were only removing part of the green grass on the new sod so the root system was still in tact. I had to do this through phone call or text as he was not on site supervising the job. He kept telling me how it would be OK. When I expressed shock that they were just laying the soil ammendments on top without working them into the existing soil, he again told me how that was the way it was done and that it would be OK. It would be alot of digging to work this into the existing soil. (Funny, that is what I thought I paid for.) I told him this is not what I was expecting and could not be happy with this. My expectation is that a company that does landscaping would have a small tiller and plan to do the job appropriately. I now have beds that "look" like they have been prepared for planting for the moment, but will probably be full of grass and weeds shortly. Also I cannot till appropriately now because the mulch has just been laid on top of the soil which was also just laid on top of the grass roots. What a mess! When I do get finished fighting off all the weeds in a few months, it will be difficult to get through the hard layer of dirt below all the stuff they just threw on top.
