The Keene Fire Department is a full-service public safety agency that responds to fire, medical, rescue, hazardous materials emergencies, and natural and man-made disasters. It houses ambulances, ladders, tankers, rescue vans and boats, and utility, brush and fire prevention trucks. The department maintains training, emergency services and fire alarm bureaus, as well as an operations division. The Keene Fire Department has a fire prevention bureau that reviews sites and building plans for compliance with fire codes and conducts inspections of under construction and existing buildings. It issues permits for fire suppression, open burning, and installation of smoke alarm and sprinkler systems. It is located in Keene, N.H.
