Do not I repeat DO NOT rent from this place. Once they get all the fees they want and you sign that lease they could care less about you. Especially the manager Edie, she is just not the nicest person(trying to be nice on my words). When you put in a call make sure its not something that can wait. It took them 2 days to come fix my toilet that was leaking water everywhere. Meanwhile I am changing towels every 5 minutes so it would go beyond the bathroom. It took them 3 days to come fix my dryer. Dont leave clothes in dryer because they will remain wet and moist due to all the vents being connected. The walls are made of paper. YOu can hear everything the neighbors are doing. We had to invest in FANS after the first week of being there so we can have a good night sleep. They made me pay $500 fine (non refundable)because they said I had my friend over more than the 7 days that they allow for a guest to be there. I live check to check and it made me cry to think this ppl want this type of money or they would put my daughter and I out within 24 hours. The neighbors complained and accused us on making noise in the middle of the night and throwing things on the floor. Really??? When I tried to explain to that woman they have as a manager that noises come from everywhere, she said that wasnt possible it had to be us. Yet I had been living there 7 months prior to this new neighbors and no one else seemed to complain. I cant believe how she was treating us. We were loyal renters. Always paid rent on time and always follow the rules. Also unless you love bugs dont believe them about them spraying. I always had roaches and nats in our apartments. The doors are not properly sealed so you will have small guests in your apartments. As well as an expensive light bill in the summer. I will never rent from them again or any of Tontis properties. I have heard horrible stories about some of their other properties as well. Rent private or rent from another company(1st Lake, Relais, ect). You will regret it I promise you. Especially if you have a family. I have been there since April 2015 and only have 2 months left on my lease. Thats if I dont break it before that, Thats how mistreated I feel, where I would just come up with this large amount of money just to leave.

What a nightmare! I moved to Woodlake Apartments from my home in Allen, TX in order to participate in a 6 month internship program at Audubon Zoo. I chose this apartment complex because I wanted to live somewhere safe, quiet, and comfortable away from the busy and dangerous streets of Metairie and New Orleans. Somewhere with plenty of green space that I would not be afraid to take my small dog outside in the middle of the night. I chose a third floor corner unit, facing westward, mostly for the natural light through the big windows, the view through the trees over the levee wall, and to not have stomping neighbors above me. First things first, Woodlake requires you to pay a "Cleaning Fee" of $125 to ensure that the apartment is clean upon your arrival and to keep you from having to deep clean the apartment before moving out. This apartment was filthy when I moved in. During the walk-through, before being given the keys, I commented on the dust and lint in the laundry room area and the grime built up in the bathroom and Alicia (the woman doing the walk-through) shrugged and said "Yea that's probably from the dryer" and didn't respond about the bathroom......DUH it's from the dryer! It took an entire day of scrubbing floors and counter tops, dusting window sills, and vacuuming to make the apartment livable to my standards. The second problem was with the outdated dryer be so caked with lint from the previous resident that my clothes were coming out COVERED in lint. It took the maintenance guy several trips, telling me "That's a normal amount of lint", and me taking my intimates directly to Edie (the apartment manager) to show her the amount of lint that was covering my clothes for this issue to be resolved. The most ridiculous problem I have had and am currently dealing with is an inefficient air conditioning system that does not cool the apartment adequately and is causing my electric bill to be outrageous. Initial air conditioner malfunctions were between February and March, which again took multiple maintenance visits to fix and caused my electric bill to be $133.63. Edie advised me to get a fan, hang curtains, use the dishwasher less, and do laundry after sunset in order to help decrease costs, all of which I was already doing. I should receive my next electric bill within the next week and am expecting it to be greatly increased due to recent issues. Regardless of what I set my thermostat temperature at, the air conditioning system cannot perform adequately to maintain the desired temperature. Maintenance has AGAIN visited multiple times over the past 2 weeks and have performed several different tasks in effort to fix this problem yet all efforts have failed. I have now been informed that there is nothing else that can be done by maintenance or Edie at this point and to write a letter to be forwarded to higher management to resolve this problem. The reason I was given for not being moved to another apartment with a working air condition was that "It cools down after sunset". My apartment reached 80degrees the past two afternoons and did not cool to a somewhat comfortable 77degrees until well after 9:30PM. I have written the letter required to be forwarded to higher management and am still waiting for a response.

I do not recommend these apartments to anyone who enjoys coming home to relax in a cool apartment after working in the hot sun all day or to anyone who likes to have problems fixed on the first maintenance visit not after having to argue and complain after several visits and the problem still not getting resolved. AWFUL!
