Provided by YP.comUsed Scotts for years with very good results. However, over the past 2 months my yard has gone downhill FAST! It's covered up in weeds that apparently Scotts cannot (or does not know how) to control.
Made many, many phone calls to them since June requesting service calls to rid the weeds. First call I was told that I "did not have enough services over the past 6 months to warrent a service call"...which was pure BS! Asked to speak to manager...who apparently was not available and never called back...ever.
Most recently, i called no less than daily wanting to speak to a manager about my lawn. Finally got one (Mike Wally) to call back. He gave me a song and dance about how what they used tended to "break down" because of the heat, but promised to send someone out to retreat the weeds again. That was 10 days ago!
I terminated my service with them last Friday 08/07/15 and signed with a local company (Simply Green Lawn Care) that my yard man recomended. That local company came out this morning, and actually let me know they were in the yard doing service in case I had any questions.
So long Scotts...you lost a long time customer...but suppose you dont care...i was just a number...

Provided by YP.comFirst time using a lawn service. Billed for application of fertilizer on Fescue lawn on 9/23 that did not take place - no one showed on the security system and no evidence of applied granules (I personally core aerated the yard 6 days after said application with no rain in between and saw no granules on the ground or concrete areas). Reported it and Scott's LawnService credited the account. Second visit on 10/22 I was home and put the dogs away and there was no issue. Third visit on 11/20 they got fertilizer on the concrete pool deck and pool cover (I have photos). I consulted with Lusk Pool's and they indicated that this will cause issues with Algae control and recommended draining the pool. Having to drain the pool and replace all of the water $250, salt $120, chlorine stabalizer $35, calcium chloride $40, sodium bicarbonate$35 and algecide $20. All totalled $500. Obviously I have cancelled the service. Thankfully I did not prepay for the service.
I spoke with the Service Manager from Scott's LawnService (Michael Whaley) on 1/9/15 and he tried to tell me that the small amount of fertilizer that got in the pool is not an issue and I should be able to just shock the pool and this should fix it. I asked him if he understood what the Nitrogen does in a pool and he said no. I told him that I disagreed and there is no pool product on the market for removing Nitorgen from pool water except draining. Also heavily shocking a vinyl lined pool causes bleaching of the liner pattern.
From the Internet
Nitrates are no fun in the pool!
Nitrates are a matter similar to Phosphates, but of different origin. Their big similarity is that they are both a food source for algae. Nitrate is a plant nutrient and is present in all green plants and fertilizers. It is natural occuring and is found everywhere something is growing.
Nitrites (NO2) are a close cousin to Nitrates (NO3) and are just as much of a problem for pools, because when a Nitrite comes in contact with water, it easily gains another Oxygen atom to become a Nitrate. This additional atom gives Nitrates real stability, and makes eradication difficult. In fact, the only known way of Nitrate removal in pools practiced today is to drain a portion of the pool, and refill with water that is Nitrate free, if possible. Shocking a pool heavily will revert the Nitrates back to Nitrites, but from their once again, an additional Oxygen atom is easy to come by in a swimming pool filled with H2O.

Provided by YP.comI have never posted on this forum before, but what I have experienced with this company is one I don't want ANYONE to have. In the beginning I hired Scott's Lawn Service to provide lawn care for both front and back yards. The first treatments began at least 3 years ago. Then I added shrub and tree services as well. For a year all was better than what I was doing myself, which was at best handling pests when they appeared and certainly not being proactive with lawn or shrubbery. However, this past year I have noticed a decline in my lawn in the backyard. From time to time I would call Scott's and they would treat it. I was paying close to $60 for lawn alone ( we have less than 1000 ft grass both yards). So, I took pictures and emailed the manager. NO RESPONSE. When I inquired about the condition of my back yard to the rep that answered the phone, I was told that "the reason the back yard looks poor was because I was only paying for the front yard." NEWS TO ME! I said that there was a mistake and the rep said that I was wrong. I told her to have the manager call to discuss this. NO RETURN CALL. I have paid for Treatment I thought I was getting and so I was grossly overcharged. I now have fired them and after only 1 treatment from UNLIMITED LANDSCAPE my lawn and shrubbery just looks like they have received a big shot in the arm. Everything is growing like crazy and the bare spots in the back are starting to fill in. When I told the tech that I had a service before them he looked perplexed. Now I know why. If you are thinking about such a service, skip Scott's Lawn Service and hire UNLIMITED LANDSCAPE. They are less money and they are honest and always call you with lawn, shrub, or tree issues. They are located in Loganville, but are as close as your telephone.
