While stopping by to look at the facilities as a possible boarding option, I found Larry's facilities wanting. While I have heard good things about the owner, upon inspection of the farm, I found it less than appealing.



The fencing is in need of serious repair - many boards are down or chewed nearly through, which could be hazardous to your horse's health. The back pasture has a large number of horses in it, with nothing to do. While I visited in the winter time and things might be different in the summer time, the horses were standing under a portion of roof, ankle deep in manure and mud. The water tank in this pasture was frozen solid and there was no trace that hay had been thrown to keep the horse's busy. While they all looked in good health, their living situation was less than ideal.



The horse's in the barn were faring better than the horses in the pasture - these animals at least had traces of hay and water [even if it wasn't clean water]. The stalls left something to desire. Upon talking to a boarder I learned that the stalls were only cleaned once a week by staff if you were in a full-care situation. If that's the case, then its not much better than self-care!



The hay that I observed in the stalls was stalky and dry - not very nutrious for an animal that needs to consume 2% of its body weight a day. The number of horses on the property itself was astounding. There were probably close to 80 horses, if not more.



But while the stalls and pasture need some TLC, the horses look happy.

My daughter went here last year and will be returning again this year--Larry is such a blessing to these kids !! He is so gentle and knowledgeable and just a wonderful teacher!! He has wonderful horses for those little ones or just the beginer riders !! He has a clean friendly environment for the horses and people !! We just LOVE this riding stable !!!
