My housing complex uses Contour Countertops as a subcontractor. Shortly after moving in to my new house, I found a crack in the laminate countertop in the cove or the curved corner of the countertop between the counter and the backsplash. I reported it to the housing warranty office a month after moving in. I wasn't too concerned because I had planned on upgrading at some point anyways, so I figured I would be just upgrading sooner than planned. Contour Countertops sent out their guy to take a look a the counter. He said that either it was cracked at the factory when they layed the laminate on the underboard or it was cracked at installation. The whole counter would need to be replaced, it wasn't fixable. And they would also fix the unsightly breaking of the caulking between the countertop and wall. I decided I would try to work with Contour and upgrade. We could discount the cost of fixing the laminate from installing a more expensive stone counter. They would be making $$$ for the new countertop and the discount wasn't going to be too much. Well, Contour said no to covering their warranty and offered me a ridiculous price on a stone counter. Lowe's was more than a $1000 cheaper with a lifetime warranty. I couldn't believe it. If you don't cover your warranty or work with your customers, why would I do business with you. Terrible company. I wouldn't trust them.
