Prior to joining the firm he enjoyed a successful and varied legal practice. Some of his areas of experience include: * Domestic Relations * Consumer Bankruptcy * Family Law * Custody Disputes * Personal Injury David is also a former adjunct member of the faculty at The Bellevue Community College and Washington State University, where he taught business law and criminal procedure. A divorce, called a dissolution of marriage, is started by either the husband or the wife filing a "Petition for Dissolution of Marriage" in the Superior Court of the county in which they reside, and having a copy of the petition served on their spouse. The person filing the petition is called the Petitioner. The person receiving the petition is called the Respondent, and must file and serve a response to the petition. The only "grounds" for dissolution of marriage in the State of Washington is irretrievably Broken of the marital relationship. There is no need to claim or prove marital misconduct. The laws of Washington require a 90 day waiting period before a divorce can be finalized. During the 90 day period the Court will enter Orders controlling "Temporary" custody of and visitation with the children, child support, spousal support, possession of property and payment of bills. The divorce can be finalized after 90 days if the parties reach agreements. If agreement cannot be achieved, the court will schedule a trial to determine the issues. At the end of the proceeding the Court will issue a "Decree of Dissolution of Marriage'. This is the document that will contain all of the final rulings of the Court.
