How we ended up with Old Republic is beyond me. Nonetheless, we arrived to close on our home and were made to sit and cool our heels for 15 minutes. During the review of the paperwork, it was clear that the closing agent had not reviewed the file. There were numerous mistakes throughout the package, which the agent shrugged off and never corrected. Next, the closing agent could not locate the wire transfer, despite the fact it sat in their account for 24 hours before another person finally noticed it. After a bitter complaint was lodged, Old Republic agreed to a refund of courier and wire fees, which is appreciated. As a final nail in their coffin, a week following closing I wrote the lead agent to request a seller signed or escrow agent certified document. Her assistant answered the email stating I could sign the HUD-1 for myself. Just about the sort of idiotic response I had expected. Avoid if possible!
