The Public Works Department is governed by the Township of Roxbury in New Jersey. The department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of more than 100 miles of roads in the township. Its services include storm sewer construction, road resurfacing and striping, street sweeping, snow plowing and sanding, tree trimming, sign replacement and roadside mowing. The Public Works Department also maintains vehicles and equipment for various township departments. The department operates a fleet of collection vehicles and collects garbage and recyclables. It manages a recycling center that recycles paper products, comingled containers, batteries, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, clothes and toys. In addition, the Public Works Department operates sewer collection systems and treatment plants. It maintains water distribution systems, reads meters and repairs water leaks.
