Southside Virginia Community College, founded in 1970, offers education to more than 6,000 students in various graduate and associate degree programs. The college provides courses in business administration, criminal justice, engineering, environmental science, liberal arts, and health science and hospitality administration. It also provides additional programs, such as culinary arts, nursing, entrepreneurial studies, computer science, art and design, music, political science and paralegal studies, engineering technology and tourism management. The sports activities offered by the college include baseball, basketball, golf, ice hockey, football, cross country, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. It provides various services to students, including financial assistance, career planning, campus placements and individual counseling. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Southside Virginia Community College has campuses located in Alberta and Keysville, Va.
