I only gave one star because in order to post a review at least one star has to be given. Poor communication and customer service. I have given this shop multiple "correct your service" opportunities. Today I am back in the shop for a "botched"sew in repair/replace/do over and the staff present insist on speaking rudely between each other (hello! There is an APP that translates on voice! I CAN UNDERSTAND YOU ALL!!!)��������☹️�������� I had to interrupt all of the none sense to be clear that I PAYING for the service- I wanted to be clear that the issues that happened before would not happen again. I drive clear from Austin and this will be the last time. The shop is poorly kept with hair,food and trash all over. Not at all what it once was. I will be reporting to the BBB and this will be my last FATAU AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING expedition. I will roll the dice at a different shop.

First time ever goin to the shop and i was very pleased with the work the young lady done. The manager was very very nice and understanding my frustration from a different shop. I would recommend anyone looking to get their hair dne to come to FATOU AFRICAN HAIR BRAIDING. I had a wonderful time in the shop the young lady didnt pull my hair too tight or anything i was very satisfied wen i left....THANK YOU LADYS AGAIN

8am appointment by 9am hair still not started. Came at 740am 810am had two braids that were wrong. To small and to short. Then wanted me to wait longer for another lady to try. I will pass on ever going back

Just got my hair done today and I was very impressed with the time and price. My braiders stuck to what they were doing and didn't break they just worked. It took a little over four hours

This was the second time I have been to Fatou to get my hair braided but I enjoy it. Fatou and all the ladies did a great job and they made sure I was okay because I have a really bad back. You walk in there to get your hair braided and you walk out with new friends. The ladies who did my hair and also Fatou made sure there was nothing wrong and have really helped me out. I would recommend everyone in there to get your hair braided. I am glad I have made new friends because they have been a blessing to me. Thank you ladies for everything.

My first impression of the salon was pleasant. Fatou, the owner is a extremely passionate women and enforces her standard. The women working there are very talented. Watching them create hairstyles had me wanting to change up my bland style. I am excited about my next experience there. Great atmosphere, great stylists, and great results!

I have been getting my hair done at this shop for 6 years , I have never walked out of there less than pleased . Like every business they change workers how ever u always walk out of there with a professional job . Fatu the owner treats u like a friend instead of a client ,she's really like family , she takes ur problems into consideration and always finds away to send u out looking oretty and feeling better than u did when u came in . The staff always make u feel welcome , they carry conversations in English so u can be involved , yes they speak there native language to one another but so do the people at the nail shops !!!! I personally give those ladies kudos for standing on there feet for hour plus days ... I have been there 6 years and hopefully 6 more to go !!! Great job ladies keep it up !

Horrible, horrible service! These people are so unprofessional and rude. Two staff members worked on my twist each pulling violently in opposite directions until I couldn't take the pain any longer. When I explain my discomfort and requested that only one of them work on my hair at a time, one women stomped away angrily speaking in her native tongue. I was shocked at how unprofessional she was behaving considering their rough handling of my hair. They have no regard for preserving your natural hair and is only concerned with having the protective style look nice. The entire time they had small children underfoot and took frequent breaks to settle them down. This is an unprofessional atmosphere for business and the staff could really use a lesson on customer service. Further, I was appalled to find that the delicate hairs on my edges and nape were literally ripped out by these indifferent people. I will NEVER come back to this place!!!!

I was Leary to make an appt after seeing all the negative post. I went with my intuition and made an appt arrived at the shop about 845 for a 900am appt. Fatou had assigned 3 braiders to do my hair. They were very nice and polite. I was pleased with the service and my hair. This was my first time getting braids. I will be patronizing this business in the future as well as making referrals. Don't believe the negative post Great Job!!!!!

I have been going to Fatou for five years maybe a little longer. I wouldn't go to any other place, in fact i drive to Killeen from Temple when i need my hair done. The staff is very talented so much so that i have never gotten my hair braided by them and not have compliments daily. The staff is well trained so that when you have more then one person braiding your hair, they braid the same and your hair looks fabulous. Also no matter how long your hair is they have someone who can do it. If you want to look great while being treated kindly visit Fatou.

This is an awesome shop. I have been going there to get my micros since I moved to Texas and I have no regrets. Please do not pay any attention to these naysayers on this site. I have never seen anyone leave this shop not being satisfied

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACEBTO ANYONE. I went and got senegalse twist and the next day they were coming loose.

This is the second time I've been there. The first was for corn rolls back in 2008 and I must say the shop has grown since many years ago. This time I went for Singlese twist because another lady Deejina who works from home cancelled on me last minute with no warning. Fatou was generous enough to fit me in. Although they took a while to get done they were very polite and as always my money was well spent. I love my braids and I'm thankful to have remembered Fatou on short notice. They provide the hair which is convienant and have many colors. Job well done and I'd refer them anytime.

I went to get my hair braded Saturday 01/19/13 .... this is my second time at this shop ..... I am 9mnths pregnant and I am due on Jan 31st .... Fatou the owner was the only one opening so I hadda wait about 30 mins to get started which isnt bad... but once I got started it was a smooth process ; idk if she knew I was so far along but she continued to check on me and ask was I okay and if I needed a break or to strech which was very helpful and kind :) funny thing is I went into labor that following morning at 12:02am w/ my bby girl :) she just knew mama needed her hair done before she mad an appearance thanks again for your great customer service and wonderful team

I understand there are some concerns and suggestions that you have. I'm here to let you know I am listening, and therefor taking the initiative to correct and or make the shop unto a more comfortable setting. I.m appreciative of all the business given. ...As soon as I got there ( i had made an appointment) the woman who was supposed to do my hair was about halfway into someone else's head...I had just gotten out of work and I asked to have my hair washed, I was told that I'd have to pay 5 and get it washed next door, because they have no sink....They lady tells me 5 minutes later that she can wash my hair in the sink in the bathroom (umm no..I had just taken a sew in out, and needed a very good wash) ... The owner Fatou is upset that I wont get my hair washed in the bathroom sink and has me escorted next door for my wash.... I decided to pay 25 at the salon next door for a wash treatment and blow out, and I never went back in to the salon...The owner Fatou was rude....I do not suggest this place. She knew I would leave if I left the salon, that's exactly what I did! Horrible customer service.

DON'T GO TO THIS SHOP!!!! I took my nieces to get their hair braided here after they came to visit me during the summer. They are ages 14 & 16. I let them choose the age appropriate cornrows. I was given a price for each style. I was satisfied with the styles and the price. They were flying back home early the next morning so I stressed the importance of them being finished in a timely manner to the person that I thought was in charge. I left to run some last minute errands while staying in touch with the girls. On the 3rd text I was told that they were using the wrong color and kept stopping and switching braiders. So i dropped what i was doing and went back to the shop to find out what was going on.  When i walked in i so angry when my niece told me that Fatou said that her hairstyle was inappropriate and she (Fatou) decided to change it! My other niece had 6 very large messy braids that looked nothing like the beginning of the style she picked out. I told them to take them down and make it right. The whole time this is going on Fatou is nowhere to be found! She has left the shop in the middle of doing their hair for the 2nd time! I was told Fatou would be back in 20 minutes I waited for her to return for 50 minutes! The other braider called Fatou and she was told to take it down and redo it however I wanted. Fatou showed up 35 minutes after that call. She came in stomping and with an obvious attitude. We ended up spending 8 1/2 hours there after several heated conversations and Fatou threatening to call the police because I demanded that the hairstyles be done the way I paid for them to be done. I had to tell her that I would call the police myself before they actually made sure everything was completed the right way. The whole experience was something I never thought could ever happen to anyone let alone in a place like this! The whole concept of customer service and quality does NOT exist in this shop at all! I was completely amazed at the outright disrespect and disregard for someone's time and money here. I would never recommend this place to anyone EVER! Don't go there!
