In 1927, the construction of the First National Bank was one of the most forward steps ever taken by any institution in Kingsport, particularly at a time when the city was in the midst of great building activity. White marble predominates the exterior, complemented by an impressive interior with high ceilings, attractive chandeliers, and magnificent arched windows, it was "rated the most beautiful banking institution in East Tennessee".
