Spivey & Spivey, LLP is a general practice law firm with half a century of experience in matters dealing with criminal law, divorce/custody, business disputes, personal injury, worker's compensation, construction, civil litigation and medical malpractice.
Richard A. Spivey ("Rick") started his practice in the late 1970's after graduating from Cumberland School of Law and practicing in Birmingham, Alabama handling civil and commercial litigation. However, in 1979 Rick found his true calling by returning to his hometown in Kingsport, Tennessee and starting a practice specializing in criminal law, domestic/divorce work and general litigation.
Matthew A. Spivey ("Matthew") followed in his father's footsteps after graduating from Emory University School of Law (Atlanta, Georgia) in 2006, with honors, and practicing there for approximately six and a half years handling complex civil and commercial litigation. After gaining valuable training and experience in the large scale legal environment in Atlanta, Matthew and Rick followed through with their discussions and plans to start a practice together.
Spivey & Spivey, LLP combines Rick's decades of trial experience in criminal matters with Matthew's experience in complex civil matters, trials, arbitrations, mediations, motions, depositions, technology, research and the necessary skills which are demanded in today's legal environment.
In addition to its primary members/partners, Rick and Matthew, Spivey & Spivey, LLP also employs associate attorneys and staff to assist with the case load and strives to promptly respond to and deal with all client needs.
