I just love this restaurant. If you like eating on the water and having a meal that is different, this is the place. The price is not cheap but you get your money's worth with the food. The steak is the most tender I have tasted at any restaurant in the Houston Metropolitan area.

After reading all the positive reviews about this restaurant, I was excited to take my wife there on a date. It looked like a nice restaurant and it was Latin food and she is from South America (Peru).



We ordered ceviche as an appetizer, a Chimichurri steak, and a cheese sauce chicken. I cannot remember the exact name of the chicken dish.



Lets start with the ceviche. If you have ever had real ceviche, it has such an amazing flavor, the way the fresh limes mixes with the fish, it is amazing. The ceviche at this restaurant is quite the opposite. When we received the ceviche, the first thing we noticed was that the plate was dry. Normally it is overflowing with juices. When we bit into it, it got even worse. The taste was quite hard to describe, it tasted like it had been marinated in the bottle of lemon juice that you buy at the store. Definitely not fresh lime juice like they use in South America. We only ate two bites of the whole appetizer. Please do not order the ceviche here. It is an offense to all South Americans.



The next items that we received were my dinner, the Chimichurri steak, and my wife's dinner, the chicken. The Chimichurri steak was a very good cut of meat, but very lacking in flavor. It tasted like it had just been thrown on the grill without any real marinade. Luckily, my wife's dish was a lot better. It was not spectacular, but it was definitely the best dish of the night.



If you are looking for authentic South American food, this is not the place. If you are looking for a watered down Tex Mex version of South American food, then this is your place. Overall, this place is lacking the true favor of South American food. The only reason that I give it two stars instead of one star is that it has a nice ambience and location.

I consider myself an efficianado of fine dining , my fiance is always fearful to take me for a culinary treat that I will not be impressed. Well the young lady hit this one clear out of the park! Saturday the 20th of October I had the privelage of dinner on the patio of Chimichurri's in Kingwood. We entered with out a reservation (God only knows how) and there was a tall cocktail table left on the patio for my love and I to share dinner. The waiter was prompt, professional and didn't miss a detail in the fine dining service experience. We shared the special the Chateau Brion and it was to die for ! Our wine glasses never had less than 1 oz before a refill was perfomed (airated no less with a cantour) . The ambiance was also second to non looking out on Lake Houston as the sun set into the water. I am a seasoned chef , member of the famed 427 club with The Palm and thats my benchmark for service and taste. These folks set the mark on Saturday night , I will not forget this meal in many years to come and compare. Lastly the servings were fit for a king even the saviche was just scrumpious. Guys listen up if you want to impress a lady here is your chance, Husbands if its romantic she wants no better a place will fit this bill. The food is wonderful. Chef prepared, excellent flavors and presentation. Prices are reasonable.



I highly recommend Chimichurri's to anyone wanting something just a little different, a nice place to bring a date or to socialize. The interior is nice, but sitting out on the back porch is preferred on nice evenings. They have a fireplace, outdoor plush chairs, nice view of the lake... just a great atmosphere. Their fine wine list is extensive.



Served as you sit down is a large platter of fried plantain bananas and chimichuri dipping sauce.



As you order, dishes range from braised ribs (which my wife preferred vs those served at one of the most expensive restaurants in Houston), the pork chop & risotto was outstanding with a delicious sauce. They have chicken, seafood, steaks... but all done with an authentic South American style. Along with your order will come a platter (for the table) with sampling of grilled sweet potato, yucca, plantain, potato, squash and rice.



Typical entree items range from about $14 to $22, but are very worth it. The staff is friendly and inviting, atmosphere is cozy... Chimichuri's is a place we will be coming back to as a family. Style is dressy casual.
