Established in 1968, the Northeast Missouri Health Council is a nonprofit organization that maintains a network of nearly 2,500 regional, primary and preventive health care clinics. It offers a variety of medical and dental services and programs to more than 17 million low-income and medically indigent patients. The organization provides women s health, prenatal, pediatric, immunization, mental health counseling, pregnancy testing, diagnostic, radiology and acute care services. The Northeast Missouri Health Council receives funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to provide sliding fee discounts to qualified patients who need primary health care. The organization maintains professional affiliations with medical, dental and educational institutions to provide students, interns and residents with clinical and on-site training opportunities. It is located in Kirksville, Mo.

As the scare of opioid dependency is become rampant in america.... This clinic is taking action by stripping Pain medicine from the patients that need it most ...Their fear is becoming greater than the patient's needs...... Example... I am a 44 year-old father of 2... and am now disabled. I do not smoke... do not drink... do not do drugs. my knees need replacement ...my back is full of arthritis and a ruptured disk. I have severe sciatica issues...And fibromyalgia... Been seeing this clinic for 6 years and as of my last doctor's Visit my pain meds were stripped from me.... Within the first 3 minutes one of the 1st things she asked me was I needed to convince or of the reasons why I need my pain meds... Then proceeded to let me know about the opio aid epidemic and how it would be better if I didn't take any pain meds...I was taking tramadol for my pain... Tylenol with Codeine for a prn. She proceeded to ask me if I was taking other people's prescriptions and told me she wouldn't prescribe me anything without a drug test... Which I did and past . But then told me that I needed to find another doctor because she will not prescribe pain meds.... Yes within the 1st minute of talking with her at my appointment .... And speaking to another doctor there that this clinic it was evident...they are no longer looking out for the patient... but for their own ends..... I'm not just rambling on cause I was upset...it's important that if you're choosing a doctor's office that really listens to you ...That you find one that will prescribe according to your needs not according to their fears.....or agenda......
