I was new to the area and 4 months pregnant, and an employee of my husband's recommended Physicians Associates. I first saw a gynecologist at the Baldwin Park office, but it was too far to drive from where I live, so I transferred to the Lake Mary office. I was not pleased with either. I had group insurance through my husband's employer, but then he lost his job a week after I moved here. Once the Baldwin Park office found out that I no longer had insurance they refused to see me until my Medicaid was approved or I paid them half of the delivery fee ($1,050). I went over 2 months without seeing a doctor. Once my Medicaid came thorugh, I went to the Lake Mary office because it was closer. Every time I went, I was rushed in and out of the office within 15 minutes. I had so many questions, but the doctor wouldn't even give me enough time to ask them. He basically didn't have time for me. When I asked for a recommendation for a pediatrician, he told me to wait until I was at the hospital and someone from Medicaid would take care of that. I feel like I was discriminated against because I was on Medicaid...like it's really my fault that my husband's company shut down and we lost our insurance. I would not recommend this practice to anyone if you expect to be treated like a human being. All people deserve good medical care, and these are not the people to give it to you.
