Provided by YP.comThis company is a scam artist. I received a call from them about by "merchant upgrade" and that it was "urgent" that I contact them immediately. That is rather odd since my business does not accept credit cards and never has.
I would never consider doing business with anyone using such shady tactics.

Provided by YP.comI would just like to briefly state that even though I do not know this other individual who is complaining about Advanced Merchant Services it sounds like our story is identical. We are actually scared to reveal our names here due to threats made to us by members of the staff at Advanced. Once they obtained our voided check we almost never stopped them from charging us for things we never agreed to. They promised we could use our existing terminal and though we never agreed to a lease, a new terminal showed up at our business and we later found out we were bound to a 4 year lease by Advanced. The worst part is how we were treated after the sale. They must have caller ID because any time somebody from my store would call them the call would go to voice mail. (Ironically when they were trying to get us to sign up with them they called us every day and always answered our calls on the 2nd ring without exception.) But we could use another phone and they always answered and as long as they thought we were a new prospect they would talk to us. Once they found out we needed service or had questions they immediately hung up on us. I noticed out of all the banks and references they claimed to have that they didn't list even one. I am 58 years old and have never filled out a complaint on a public forum like this but I feel obligated to warn other business owners that Advanced Merchant Services will hurt you.

Provided by YP.comAs a business owner, I wouldn't recommend this company. The sales representative told us they can offer lower rates, but in reality, they charge all kinds of fees they failed to mention it during the sale process. It turns out we have to pay 3.5% per transaction in average. When we have problems with with the terminal and credit card transactions, we can find no support at all. The most ridiculous thing is we found out they don't even have an office or employee when we try to return the machine and cancel the serivce.
This is not a true statement! None of our merchants pay an average of 3.5% unless they are an internet based company or manually complete 90% of thier transactions verses physically swiping the customers cards. Those types of businesses are high risk for any bank and we disclose all rates, fee's, and assesemnts up front as well as disclose them on a Rate Schedule page which the merchant has to sign in 2 places to verify they understand what they will be paying. Now in regards to having an Office we have had an office in Knoxville, TN for over 7 years as the address is listed and anyone is welcome to come to our office Mon-thru Friday from 8:30 to 5:00. This is our local sales and telemarketing office. We have over 17oo sq feet of office space and are fully staffed. We have exsisting merchants and new merchants that visit our office frequently! If this was a true complaint you would think Mr. Earl Lamb would release his business name as well as place a complaint with the BBB which he did not do. We have a very good record with the BBB and we are endorsed by several local banks. Do you really believe banks would give us endorsements if Mr. Lambs statement was true? We have tons of local and regional referrals backing us!
