I had an oil leak on my Ford Taurus and they told me it was my oil pan that was leaking and needed to be replaced. But in order to replace it, they had to "break a part" to get to the oil pan which would drive the cost up to $1000. My boyfriend was also with me to hear this. We were EXTREMELY skeptical so I called the dealership where my car was purchased and asked a relative who is a mechanic if they, indeed, had to break a part to reach my oil pan. They LAUGHED and were not surprised when I told them Fred's Brake and Alignment quoted me this. They are well-known liars and I feel stupid for going to them previously for my auto needs. Don't make the same mistake I did. Especially if you're a woman. Side note: they also told me I needed my ball joints replaced which of course, was quoted hundreds. I told them no. That was almost three years ago and I've been to a few car places since then. I have not once been told that my ball joints were loose. INFURIATING that a business like this is still open!



Also, very rude and condescending on the phone. Just the worst.

I've taken my daughter car in for service for many years. We put new tires on her car and then the starter went out. We had his complimentary service plan and the tow was reimbursed in less than a week. We have always had good service at Fred's.

I brought my car in because the heater did not work, they charged me 80 dollars to tell me what was wrong. Then charged me 200 to change the thermostat. I got back in my car and it still blew cold. I went back in and told them and all they did is literally shrugged there shoulders and said, "well then its the heater core and that will be another 700". What did I pay the 80 dollars for then? I asked if they would put the 200 I already paid towards it and they said "we don't do stuff like that here". Very very un professional. I always get treated with way more respect than that at Matts Auto on the south side. He also does not charge to tell you what's wrong with your car weather u get it fixed or not. DON'T GO TO FREDS

I am very impressed with Fred's Brake and Alignment. I own a 2006 Saturn and I always had my work done at the dealership in town until they closed, now I go to Fred's and wish I was started going there years ago. Everything about the garage was excellent from the desk to the shop. A person couldn't ask for a better experience, they even set up financing on my repair. A BIG thank you to Fred's.

Fred's is the best place anywhere and I wouldn't take my cars anywhere else. I've had to purchase 3 sets of tires, of course for three separate vehicles, and Fred's has always given me the best deal and provide exceptional service and quality work. I also appreciate Fred’s willingness to go the extra mile even when I had a small annoying problem when my automatic antenna wouldn’t go up, he just came out of the shop gave it a little oil didn’t charge me and it worked just fine. Lastly, as a young women and not knowing anything about mechanics it is really assuring that Fred’s will always be honest with me and wouldn’t try to play me like a fool to try to get more money for services that are not needed. Thanks Fred! Sincerely a customer of almost 15 years!

Everyone hates it when your car brakes down but having an honest mechanic who cares really makes the difference. I won't be taking my car anywhere else because I know Fred is honest. He's never went over on estimates and always answers all my questions. He and his friendly wife even sent me thank you note for giving them my business.
