Founded by Lafayette natives Freda and the late Mac Durham in 1971, Durham’s Auto Repair and Wrecker Service specializes in transmissions, air conditioning work, and brakes. Inspired by his father, who worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet dealership in Lafayette, Mac worked for ten years at a local Ford dealership honing his craft. He opened Durham’s Auto Repair with the assistance of his wife and 2 sons, Tim and Ray. The Lafayette train depot represented the first site of the business, and the business later moved to West North Main St. In 1992, the business settled on it’s current location at 501 S. Duke St. Both Mac and his son Ray have since passed on, and the business today is run by Freda and Tim. With more experience and expertise than any other auto repair and wrecker service in the area, their service and prices simply cannot be beaten.
