Just like others mentioned her...

Just like others mentioned here Dr. Kavanaugh will write you off if he is unsure how to diagnose you.

I was referred by UCSD student health after my rhumatologist there retired. Before she left she had done some blood work as a result of my Raynaulds. Turns out I had POSTIVE ANA test...so the doctors at the student center think I may have an autoimmune disorder especially since I have been ill so much recently.

I go to Kavanaugh, who has his assistants talk to me for 10 minutes. They are very nice and take lots of notes. Then Kavanaugh finally comes in. He asks me my Raynaulds symptoms and when I describe them to him-he says "interesting....thats abnormal." Okay...so doctor, please elaborate as that is why I am here. Instead he tries to confirm that I had had Raynaulds since I was 13-I am now 22. Yes this is true. But my family doctor never met a patient with it, and with other things recently occuring (one of them hair loss) I decided now was the time to see a rhumatologist.

He tells me that people who have raynaulds who test negative on an ANA test have a 15% chance of lupus, and those who have Raynaulds and test postive on ANA have a 25% chance of lupus. So I'm thinking great....my chances are higher....but Kavanaugh looks at me and says....but I THINK youre in the 15% range. Even though looking at my ANA test I'm positive. That is HUGE assumption for him to make. Granted this is the first time I have met this man, for less than 5 minutes. He goes on to tell me to find out if I have a disorder that its A LOT of testing.. (hello?! I came to do these tests to figure out whats wrong with me.) In the end he sends me away saying I should come back when I have other symptoms... "Of what I ask?" He says of either Lupus or Scholderma. When I said I'm not sure what those symptoms would look like. He responds "OH you'll know....it'll be life changing."

ARE YOU F****ING kidding me! So I have to have something potentially life-threatening or life-changing happen to me before you want to help treat or diagnose me. Guess what, Kavanaugh after an incident like that I think I'll know whether or not I have Lupus or Scholderma, why would I need to see you to tell me something I will already know. I go to see the doctor to prevent such things from happening.

THIS DOCTOR IS NEGLIGENT. BEWARE!
