Taylor Doherty, MD, is a board-certified allergist/ immunologist with expertise in asthma, allergies and adult immune deficiency. He provides diagnosis and treatment for problems related to the human immune system such as skin disorders (e.g., hives, eczema), respiratory tract diseases (e.g., sinusitis, asthma), autoimmune related disease (e.g., arthritis) and food and medication sensitivity. Dr. Doherty is active in translational research and has been published for his work on numerous topics, such as innate immune responses in asthma and allergy (e.g., discovery of mechanisms that control a novel innate cell type, the ILC2). He has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for several leading medical journals including Immunology, Journal of Asthma, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Molecular and Cellular Biology and Experimental Lung Research. Dr. Doherty has won several awards over the years from the National Institutes of Health and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI). In 2014, the American Lung Association awarded him the ALA Biomedical Research Award for his work in lymphoid cells and allergic inflammation. He completed his residency training, fellowship, internship, and served as chief medical resident at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Doherty earned his medical degree and received the Deans Award from Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He is board-certified in allergy and immunology and internal medicine.Dr. Doherty joined UC San Diego Health in 2009.
