Dr. Hubbard is a general pediatrician and newborn hospitalist. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Dr. Hubbard completed a one-year fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics prior to joining the Newborn Service team in 2002. Her areas of interest are the care and proper nutrition of the late preterm infant, infant soothing, transition into parenthood, infant behavior and communication, and the impact of family dynamics and maternal mental health on infant care and development. As a graduate of UC San Diego School of Medicine herself, Dr. Hubbard enjoys providing instruction to current medical students, including a quarterly lecture on newborn care. Dr. Hubbards research interests include quality improvement, prevention of newborn readmission, care of the late preterm infant, and suck training for infants with feeding difficulties.
