Julie Walker, DPT, is a licensed physical therapist and board-certified neurologic clinical specialist (NCS) with expertise in caring for people with a diverse range of neurological conditions, including stroke, vestibular disorders, Parkinsons disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS,) multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and concussion. Julie also works with individuals who have brain tumors and who are undergoing cancer rehabilitation. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Julie was a primary physical therapist for the brain and stroke rehabilitation program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She often presents at meetings and conferences, and spoke on safe mobility strategies and general exercise recommendations for patients with ataxia at the National Ataxia Foundations annual conference in 2017. As a part of her research, she has also developed a discharge algorithm for acute care physical therapists. She earned her doctoral degree in physical therapy at Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, where she also earned her bachelors degree in health studies.
