Yvette Milazzo, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who provides care to individuals with mental health issues. Her clinical practice includes general outpatient adult psychiatry, as well as inpatient and emergency department care at Thornton Hospital in La Jolla. Her expertise is in treating psychiatric disorders, including major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and psychotic disorders. She also provides psychiatric assessment, treatment and medication management.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Milazzo worked as a psychiatrist at local community mental health clinics in the San Diego area, treating chronically, severely ill patients.Dr. Milazzo was a postdoctoral research scholar at the Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. She was chief resident during her residency training at UCLA-Kern Psychiatry Residency Program, and was twice honored with Resident of the Year during her training. She earned her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska. She is board-certified in psychiatry and is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
