You will not find a happier group of people or a more qualified dentist anywhere in San Diego County. From the minute you walk in to the Dr.'s follow ups afterward A Shop For Smiles cares about you, your teeth and wants to make your experience as relaxing as possible.



Before coming to Dr. Hagstrom I was terrified of the dentist and had not been in over a decade. Now I visit A Shop For Smiles every three months for a cleaning and am working towards making my Smile a Perfect 10!!!

I have been going to Dr. Hagstrom now for over 17 years. I have seen his business grow and improve, always up-to-date on the latest dental technology. Thanks to mine and my husbands regular visits we are able to put his kids through collage!!! LOL.

Seriously, I find that overall going to Dr. Hagstrom is generally painless and he always follows up with a personal phone call if there is a root canal or some other serious procedure. His staff is super friendly and they always show interest in me.

The only thing that sometimes annoys me, is that their appointment reminders is a bit overkill. They give me an appointment card, send a reminder through the mail, e-mail me, text me, leave a message on my cell.

Their facility is very clean, has personality, and up-to-date on all the latest, effortless and painless dental technologies. Very pleasant experience overall!!!! I highly recommend Dr. Hagstrom and to anyone and everyone!

I have been going to Dr. Hagstrom for years. The Doctor and his team make every visit a good experience. When I needed to replace my front crowns, Dr. Hagstrom went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy with the result, matching my tooth color exactly for a natural look. He also utilizes the most recent developments in dental care, some of which saved me from having expensive gum surgery. The first time I went to Dr. Hagstrom he explained several options available for improving my teeth and gums. He was thourough, but never high pressure. I am totally satisfied and would recommend Dr. Hagstom to anyone looking for a great dentist.

I recommend Dr. Hagstrom and his staff for the professional service they provide. The staff is friendly and courteous. The hygienist is competent and efficient. Dr. Hagstrom is knowledgeable, skilled, and authentic. I believe the service they offer is worth the price, making me a loyal client. Keep up the great work!

My Husband and I have been going to Dr. Hagstrom for over a year now. As soon as you walk in the door you are treated like family! I have been afraid of the dentist since I was a little kid. The staff and the Dr. were extremely understanding, and gentle with me. I am no longer afraid and in fact I have had several needed crowns put on by Dr. Hagstrom with wonderful results, pain-free and fear free! He even called my that evening to see how I was doing. To me, that is priceless service!

I feel Dr. Hagstrom's prices are very fair and are in line with the going rate as far as dental care is concerned. His hygenist, Diana, is excellent as well as very personable. (She even picked me up from my home when my care broke down, so that I wouldn't miss my cleaning!) Talk about great service!

Lindsey, Dr. Hagstrom's assistant is great at putting one at ease, and is very sweet and efficient. Michelle and Mary in the front office deliver excellent customer service! If you want a dentist with excellent skills and who is gentle and understanding, a staff who treats you like family and understands the dynamics of a fearful patient, then this is the place for you. He also has state-of-the-art equipment which has made getting xrays so much more comfortable.)

When you think about going to the dentist for the first time, there is a natural fear of the unknown. Dr. Hagstrom's office is a friendly place to visit. The office staff is cordial and makes you feel appreciated as an individual. The fear of the unknown is completely wiped away. Every member of his team is professional and knowledgeable. I have been a patient of Dr. Hagstrom since I moved to town almost 3 years ago. He is very thorough and friendly. The staff is amazing as well, very caring and welcoming.

Has always given me great service. The dentist is available when needed.

Dr. Hagstrom and staff are truly a great place to go for dental work. So far - no problems. Truly energetic staff and wonderful people. Prices are a little high. Need more time to pay for hig cost of work done which insurance doesn't pay. Maybe over a 6 month period instead of 3 month but all in all they are really trying to help me with my problems I have. Thanks to all of you!

In my mind finding an exceptional dentist is paramount to my good health, and too my peace of mind. Like in any other profession, there are exceptional dentists, good dentists, mediocre dentist, and just plain bad dentists. Having a bad dentist work on you can have severe repercussions, including in extreme cases the loss of life. Picking a dentist should be taken very seriously, and certainly when one is lucky enough to find an exceptional one, often literally out of sheer luck, it's important to share this with others, because there are a lot of mediocre and bad ones out there. I've been a patient of Dr. Rick Hagstrom's for 20 + years, and I still have all my teeth and a lingering attractive smile; need I say more! I can tell you with a clear conscience that he is exceptional in every imaginable way. And, not only as a dentist, but as a caring and empathetic human being. As if that weren't enough to insure a healthy mouth, Dr. Hagstrom's staff reflects his exacting and perfectionistic style to a "T". While this may sound patronizing to some, I honestly feel like I'm a member of the Hagstrom family when I walk onto his shop. The feeling of belonging that I experience when visiting the 'Shop of Smiles' more than adequately supersedes any of the old fear and trepidation of visiting the dentist. I know this review must sound 'corny' and 'rehearsed' to some, but I am not in any way profiting from this review, and I would not write it if I didn't feel so strongly about Dr. Hagstrom and his staff. Do yourself a big favor and go see Dr. Hagstrom at the "Shop of Smiles', and do it yesterday if you haven't been to the dentist in a while. You can trust him and his staff implicitly.

Dr. Hagstrom is a nice enough person. But as soon as you walk into his office you get the sales pitch. They want to upgrade you to everything and overcharge you for it all too. Also, if you don’t mind being harassed with cards, newsletters, emails, etc, then he is the dentist for you. He is greedy and fake, I’d keep looking if you want a decent dentist. He isn't truthful! He cost my coworker $10,000.00. He is ridiculous. I'm looking at my bill right now and he charges $150 for digital xrays, off a memory card, ridiculous!

Exceptionally friendly and professional tooth fairies! From the California surfing these of the office to the first class treatment, toy could not ask more from a dentist.

I had my first visit with Dr. Hagstrom about 2-months ago. I had xrays, a cleaning and teeth whitening that visit. I was very impressed with Dr. Hagstrom and his entire staff. Dr. Hagstrom gives you all the confidence in the world that he knows what he's doing. When I heard he graduated head of his class at USC, I was sure I had made the right choice in selecting him as my dentist.



His office is bright and cheery! His staff puts the patient first. You can tell that everyone truly enjoys their job and likes working together. Dr. Hagstrom, and his team, are very professional, thorough and makes you feel like you're the only patient for the day. I'm recommending Dr. Hagstrom to all my family and friends!!
