Provided by YP.comAs a critical care nurse for almost 10 years, I witness the dying process at least once a week, if not more. I have personally held patients’ hands as they take their last breath and watch the monitor as their heart rhythm slowly turns to asystole. I know how difficult and how much support families need at this time. I have had many encounters with different hospices, some better, some worse. St. Catherine’s Hospice has been such a joke. I wish there were better words than terrible and unsupportive. At first, I felt my family members may have been exaggerating, but what I witnessed for one day, staying with my uncle on his deathbed was appalling. My uncle was made “comfort care” on a Sunday, most people would think a nurse would come to make sure everything was okay on Monday, Long story, short, I took it upon myself to call the company, twice, starting at 1pm, and still no one showed up until 10pm that night!!! When the chaplain even lies, saying she came to pray with the family—I personally was there all day, and no chaplain showed up, it is disheartening. I’m not sure if our experience is an isolated occurrence, which for the sake of the patients, I hope it is. I always wondered why some patients refused hospice, but from this experience I can see why some would choose not to. This end to a beautiful life was not as peaceful and as comforting as it could have been.
I left this review on their FB page; then, later found that it has been hidden. Why would you try to hide this, instead of working to make it better??
