My power went out at home and I needed to do computer work for work, so headed to Starbucks to be able to plug in. Starbucks was wall to wall people working on laptops. Decided to try Sal's Pizza and Bagelry across the way. I'm so glad I did. They had a couple tables that I could plug in and free Wifi. Was a very pleasant experience. Warm friendly place. I worked peaceably there for hours. Although it's a "pizza/bagelry" place, they have lots of different types of food; sandwiches, soups; etc., etc. I ordered a focaccia bread turkey sandwich (the best sandwich I've ever had in my life), that came with fries, which were also delicious, and I am particular about fries. The coffee was great. Before I left I ordered a small veggie pizza; enjoyed!! The flavor was not overpowering, yet savory and delicious. And treated myself to fresh-out-of-the oven apple bread pudding; like homemade. If you're on Route 66 in La Verne passing by, stop in. You won't be disappointed.

The last two time I've been at this location with my family, the service has been extremely poor. Not looking forward to come back again.

I don't care what others have rated this place, but this place deserves 5 stars for one reason...The Sal's Special pizza!!! This is by far the best tasting pizza anywhere! For some reason people always brag about Warehouse Pizza in La Verne being the best spot but I would have to disagree. Warehouse only takes cash and you have to wait forever for their food and their pizza tastes just like every other place...not Sal's!! I absolutely love Sal's food, their location, and their staff and in my opinion, this is the best spot in La Verne.period.

Pizza good, begal decent

I agree with the other reviewer regarding the drive thru. I never use it because they take forever. The pizza is excellent, good garlic bread, and good salads. As for the bagels, they are decent. Not my favorite but my parents love the blue berry cream cheese. Try it.

Can't they get it right?

I have lived in LaVerne for 14 years and the Bagelry has been doing business there for about as long. When you go inside, it's a good restaurand and I would recommend it to family and friends. HOWEVER, (notice, this is a big however) I can't tell you how many times I have revisited the drive thru after having waited a year, in hopes that they would care about how they present their service to their customers. Well, I just gave it another try and, frankly, I don't think I will do it again. I ordered a simple cheese bagel with light cream cheese, easy on the cream cheese and cut in half. It may sound pickey but, I ask for the bagel to be cut so I can handle it while driving. I order easy on the cream cheese because it goops out all over me, my clothes and the car. By the way, not olny did I once again, get an uncut bagel with glops and glops of cream cheese but there wasn't even a napkin to catch the mess. I didn't even bother with it this time. It went into the trash and since I couldn't find their website, I went to Yellowpages.com for some justice. Anyway, bottom line, if you want food from Sams Pizza and Bagelry in LaVerne, CA, DON'T use the drive thru.
