Aire Plastics began as part of Aire Masters of San Antonio which was started by Ken Simms, a mold maker and injection molder, when he moved from Colorado to San Antonio, Tx in 1982. Ken was a friend of the Post Family when he died unexpectedly from a heart attack in 1989. Terry Post owned an automotive business which operated on the family property in Adkins, Tx. Terry helped the Simms family to keep the business alive and then later bought the plastics division in that same year. He converted his automotive repair garage into a plastics production plant. Terry began Aire Plastics without any information or experience in injection moulding. His experience building boilers for power plants had taught him how to work with high precision projects and he soon was delivering products on-time to the company’s original six customers. It started out with just two small 35 ton Arburg injection molding machines. The two old but sturdy machines were appropriately named “Grandma” and “Aunt Claudette” after the Melba Nichols and Claudette Jacobs who both at one time or another worked for Aire Plastics. The original machines were still serving Aire Plastics’ customers until 2002. Aire Plastics eventually moved from Adkins to it’s current home in the small town of La Vernia in 1991 where Terry spent long days and nights building the business while his wife Judy managed the administrative duties. The little company that started out in a garage has grown. It now has a highly automated production facility 9 injection moulding machines and 14 employees. Tobin Post, son of Terry Post, is now the Chief Operating Officer and manager. Aire Plastics still serves those original six customers and continues it’s dedication to building long-term records of service.
