El Senor Sol Real Mexican Food

This place advertises, on their website menu, a $6.99 Express Lunch.



When i tried to order it, I was told that I had to buy a drink also. This was not mentioned on the menu of the website, nor was it printed on the paper menu in the restaurant.



When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told that, in the finest tradition of American business, he was not available.I don't care for "bait and switch" operations and I don't like my bill be run up by an ambitious staff. So I left.



I can, however, report on the food. The one chip that I had was cold and obviously from a bag; the one bite of salsa was warm and tasted like it came from a jar.



Back will I not go.

My wife and I have been regulars at the Lafayette location for 4 years as it is close to our home (used to be El Senor Sol). The food was never great, but good enough and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. The last time we went however I noticed:



$15 margharitas were watery and served in cheap plastic glasses



the bench seats have split upholstery with the stuffing coming out



the portions were small, I went home and had a snack after a $44 dollar meal for 2.



Overall the quality and portions have declined and the festive interior is starting to get seedy. This place is either in financial trouble or the management simply doesn't care about the customers' dining experiences. We won't be going back unless the management changes.
