Lafayette Handyman came to my house and provided me a price to tear down my old wooden picket fence, dispose of it, and install a new 6ft privacy fence in the same place as the old. It was a very good quote for time and price! They told me it would take 3 days with 2 days as a buffer, so a total of 5 days. It turns out the price we agreed to and the timeline we agreed to was a flat out lie. The fence got put up 22 days later, but the old fence to this day (going on 2 months) is still sitting in my yard. I had to pay an additional $615 more than I was told at the beginning.



Not only is the job still not finished and I paid $615 more than told. I had to repeatedly text and figure out what was going on, I used my personal pickup truck to drive across town 2 times to pick up the fence panels from the store (their job) and I used my personal pickup truck to pick up a post hole digger. Not only this but I had to go to the store and pay for the last remaining fence panels on my own. Finally after texting almost daily they hired a different contractor to finish putting up the new fence. This contractor came out and had it done in 2 days.



In addition to all this I was told since I had to pay so much more extra than I was told at the beginning that they would come out and stain and seal my fence for me. I thought this was nice since the whole job was a mess. They wrote up a contract and said they would be out to do it. Well it is now going on 5 weeks since I was told this.



Also, I was told the old fence posts were going to be cut and then buried. I walk around my yard and can see many of the old posts sticking up slightly above the ground. To this day the old fence is sitting in my yard and the fence is not stained or sealed.



I'm thinking about taking them to small claims court. I would highly recommend against this company. They have repeatedly promised me many things and none of them were true.
