United Tile was established in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1947, by R. B. Wiegand Jr. Realizing the need for ceramic tile in South Louisiana, he opened the second location in Lafayette in the early 1950's. The oil industry was just beginning to grow here and both commercial and residential construction was active. The early store saw two managers come and go. In 1957, Dick Wiegand sent his brother-in-law, H. R. "Buzz" Wagner and his wife Dorthy to oversee the Lafayette store. Business flourished with new homes, schools, hospitals and other construction jobs. In 1966, United Tile moved to their current location on Eraste Landry Road. This 8,400 square foot facility provides a modern showroom, offices and warehouse space. The Wagners guided United Tile for over thirty years in Lafayette to be a premier flooring company serving the Acadiana area. The business continued to grow and additional storage space was added. Today there is over 10,000 square feet under roof.

Stop and turn around now. Spread the word Stan Stan is not the man. I was told he was putting his #1 guy on my house to redo all floors and granite counter tops. I was in his office after the first day. The second day was on a Friday and they left my kitchen and breakfast area with a heavy haze of grout only slightly wiping it. It took me 3 hours to clean it up so I wouldn\u2019t track it through the rest of my house for the weekend. It only got worse from there. Tile in my bushes tile in my yard. Tile in my neighbor\u2019s yard. The tiles were so uneven that my 2 yr old trip and falls. The gaps are so uneven. I believe this is the worse job I have ever seen. He tried explaining that this work would be excepted in new house construction. Bull! The only reason I accepted the work was we had a baby born before the work was finished and needed them out of our house for the baby to get its rest. We should of fired the tile guy after the 1st. day and counted our losses. I did knock a lot of money off and refused to pay the difference. Either that or redo the entire house. Each day reminds me of this horrible time that United Tile and Stan caused our family in with remodeling of our house and the birth of our fist born child.
