Dr. Baerveldt is internationally recognized for his glaucoma research, surgical innovations and humanitarian endeavors. He developed the Baerveldt Glaucoma Implant and presently holds six patents related to this invention. Dr. Baerveldt also invented Trabectome, a minimally-invasive glaucoma surgical instrument that is used worldwide. Dr. Baerveldt is a charter member of the American Glaucoma Society, and a founding member of the Glaucoma Society of Southern California and the Glaucoma Society of Orange County. He's also been honored in Best Doctors in America (1996 - present) and was named Top Ophthalmologist by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals. Born and educated in South Africa, Dr. Baerveldt obtained his medical degree from the University of Pretoria and performed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of the Witwatersrand. When he's not lecturing internationally on glaucoma surgery, Dr. Baerveldt enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and four grandchildren. Dr. Baerveldt practices at NVISION's Laguna Hills location.
