The location is centrally situated in the heart of Lahainaâ??s newer commercial centers, and conveniently close to the Lahaina bypass. West Maui is a mix of old Laihaina town and the major resort communities Kaanapali and Kapalua. Historically, Lahaina was a significant port for whaling vessels and was the capitol of Kingdom of Hawaii from 1820 to 1845. Like South Maui, the West side is a popular visitor destination known for calm waters, restaurants, shopping and amazing sunsets (even though we think the view of the West Maui mountains is arguably better than the sunset).
