Weary from travel we wanted Chinese take out brought to our room. We first called China One but they said they don't deliver to the Hamptons so we called the front desk and they said Hong Yip would. They are in the process of building a website so I just called Hong Yip and told them what we wanted and they said they could make it even going to the additional trouble of switching out a traditional brown sauce for a white sauce. Our bounty of food arrived on time at our door and was pipping hot. We discovered the ingredients were all so fresh...the presentation fabulous...and best of all the flavor was fantastic. They packaged our dinners in strong plastic containers and included a variety of sauces. The shrimp was jumbo in size and so tender as was the chicken ... And the chinese veggies were cooked perfecty Bright in color and oh so tender. If you want great service and GREAT food when in Lake City Florida our advice

call Hong Yip...you won't be disappointed. Their # 386-755-1133

My wife and I have gone there since they opened, We always enjoy the food and service.

From the time the parents ran it to the son taking over (I guess mom and dad are enjoying the grandkids) we have enjoyed the food, service, speed and convenience of dinning in and take out, We dine at least once a month and take out at least once a month.

GOOD HARD WORKING FAMILY PEOPLE !

Go Elsewhere

I have dined at Chinese restaurants in locations from sunny Key West, Florida-all the way to the frigid north-east, and this is by-far THEE worst of them all.

From a lackadaisical staff of four people who did not greet me (with the exception of one...who would also be the one on the front end texting on his phone at times while food trays were empty), to dried out, starchy noodles that resembled pasta al-dente that was put outside to cook in the sun.

The chicken was tasteless and dry, the pork fried rice was good except for the fact some of the pork bits tasted like blood, and the sweet and sour soup tasted like mushrooms before cleaning.

I resorted to eating fruit and sipping egg drop soup: which tasted nice but was luke-warm.

Sadly enough, I cannot comment on anything else as there was hardly any food offered by the restaurant: most trays were empty, almost empty, or had contained dried food.

So if you're looking to eat Chinese food, go elsewhere.

If this were to be the only Chinese restaurant open in Lake City?... Go to a grocery store and purchase a microwavable Chinese dinner from Tai Pei or Chungs... Something else you can blow money on aside from this place.

I grew up in lake City and I remember when Hong Yip was opened. I ate there several times but I haven't been in quite some years. If it's anywhre as good as it used to be than I would highly recommend eating there. The food was delicious with a creative, inventive menu. And the staff was very friendly and courteous. Again, I haven't been there in a while. So it could be a lot different now.
