I agree with Bill D. We also had a bad experience with Great Lakes Custom Construction. They performed a series of interior and exterior finishing tasks. Paint lines were way off, they put grout caulk in the bath tub tile vs real grout, and overall results were undesirable. Tom, the owners partner, installed a garage door opener, and never adjusted the garage door swing. He also stole the existing equipment when he left including $1000 blinds that were replaced. I'd assume a contractor would ask the home owner if they could have them. Also, never returned my phone calls and texts. They had verbal confrontations with their employees too in front of my family. Tom is very shady and will feed you bull prior to the job being completed. Do not trust them as they are not honest. I have a complaint pending with the BBB.

We had a very bad experience with Great Lakes Custom Construction. We hired them to finish our basement. The contract said that they would pull all permits and after they pulled a building permit. After insulation and drywall was installed we asked them about a rough inspection and were informed that a rough inspection was not needed for this job. Later I called the city and was informed a rough inspection WAS required and that no electrical, plumbing or HVAC permits were pulled. We are now in week 7 of a 3-week job and work has come to a stop. Phone calls and text message are no longer returned and we are left with a mess downstairs.
