Provided by SuperpagesMy father has lived at two holiday retirements and I have worked at one. When him and mom lived at the first one the food was good and environment nice within 3 years both were terrible. Mom passed away and we moved him two the second place everyone is nice food has got even worse in the last 6 months. Today they served residents half of a hamburger when they got up to leave they were then offered the other half. I didn't no they were in Germany all over again. Also no potatoes that were supposed to have at all times. You want their money but not feed them! All I heard during daily meetings is how to remember they have seen a lot and deserve care. So feed them! They deserve it! If I have to feed him or them are you going to refund money? no! My father deserves better give it to him. Also what food you are giving on the menu should not be the same all over the region as taste are not the same.

Provided by YP.comThis company has gone downhill. Corporate has changed how the facilities are run and it is not good for the residents. Food is not good and too salty and spicy for most of the older people. My mother wants to move to a different place after living here for 2 years. They don't clean apts very well, get conflicting stories from mgr and activities person. This is a business now and not run with the residents best interest. If you love your parents, you want them to be in a loving, caring place. This is NOT the place.

Provided by YP.comMy father has been living at Willow Grove in Matthews, NC for 5 years. It started out as a great place for him. Recently, it has begun to go down hill. My father's room used to be cleaned every week. It has not been thoroughly cleaned all summer. In the 5 years he has been there, they have had the carpet cleaned only once even though they will tell you they do it every year. The new managers appear to be very frustrated and do not talk very nicely to family members. My dad's rent has always been paid on time, so we should be able to expect that the services offered in his lease be supplied in a timely and thorough manner. Until they get their act back together, I cannot recommend this facility or company.

Provided by YP.comHoliday Retirement is changing the management style. It has left residents confused , angry and feeling abandoned.
When the "head" (no longer co-managers) was approached with questions and concern, I was told that "This is the way it is, and it cannot be changed". After being blocked like this several times I asked how to contact corporate staff. This request was refused and I was told "It wouldn't make a difference anyway".
This is a disgusting situation. Corporate, do you red these reviews?

Provided by YP.comBest experience my parents have ever had! They live in Las Vegas at The Montara Meadows. The residents, including my parents are truly happy. The staff is terrific and the managers are joyful, friendly and always willing to help, especially Marizzio and his wife Sandra.

Provided by YP.comMy wife and I have been living at Thornton Place 1 year. We came here because we heard that the food here was very good. Well, it isn't, and it is worse than it was where were for 1- 1/2yrs. We pay $4000. per month, and I have to buy food at the market every week which averages $!00. ea week. We cannot continue to stay here unless you do something to improve the meals. Many residences that we are know of are moving out. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO STOP THIS PROBLEM?????? Terry and Karen are wonderful and they are trying their best to accommodate the many unhappy residents. Hope to receive a reply from this message.

Provided by SuperpagesMy husband and I moved to The Bonaventure in Ventura, Ca. in April 2015. Despite the car salesman tactics of the salesperson, we wanted to be settled and signed the papers. I urge anyone seeking independent living to cross this place off your list.Meal service can take and hour and a half : mgr. says "They (corp.) only allow us 4 wait persons. Coffee service s-l-o-w, mgr. says: "They won't allow us both to assist." Club house stands empty for months. Mgr. denies use of empty closets for art supplies to support painting group. "They don't allow us to "store" residents' possessions." Laundry equipment doesn't work. Mgr. says, laughing: "I hear there's one cycle that does." This is a fleecing operation. Stay away. Anonymous.

Provided by Superpages,Since moving to here on January 31, 2015 The following are some of the problems we have encountered. Belleair Towers is advertised as independent living. It has the appearance and feeling of being more suitable as an assisted living facility Example, at one meal there were 10 people in attendance, 5 which needed assistance with the basic needs of feeding themselves and there was 3 other care givers waiting to deliver food to people not in attendance. Activities centered on the less active people. Activity director seems to be not in tune with needs of the total community Driver not employed full time. She is also a care giver and this seems to interfere with her duties as a driver. Bus unable to accommodate handicap people. Food served cold, side dishes not compatible with main dish, food served without appropriate condiment. Cleanliness of our apartment. Mildew clothes in closet Maintenance of landscape Regional Mgr refuses to discuss problems.

Provided by SuperpagesI loved Cedar Woods in Branford when my grandmother arrived there 15 years ago. A bus drove people into New Haven for their medical Doctors and throughout Branford. group cooking every week along with a creative crafts every week. There was always a plateful of cookies in the lobby and the upstairs activity room held concerts at least once a month or events once a month. The managers were all fabulous. There were numerous barbecues in the summer, there were musical trios or singers there was a German festival, a summer fair, lots and lots of music, people including the managers dancing. It was the perfect place. Then everything began to change with the new owners in 2005 or 6 There have been at least 25 managers they have gone through and 25 cooks. No bus to New Haven. Many less activities. And rent going up $!00 to$200 a year, A real Shame Jennifer Liberty Wallingford, CT

Provided by SuperpagesHoliday is owned by an investment company run by 25 year old NYC trust fund kids who are totally clueless about senior needs and care nothing for the front line employees. The Holiday corporate executives are in it to build their golden parachutes for their exit. Bonus structure is all built on sales. No one cares about quality or resident/employee satisfaction and retention. Turn-over is so bad that you'd think you were in a war zone. One day there, next day gone and no one ever knows why but suspect it was because the employee actually cared and try to correct problems. The "gourmet" menu is based upon less than $4.00/day/resident because corporate and the investment company wants its profits over people. Communities being sold off left and right. Had been 300+, now down to 100 or less. What does that say about the company and quality of care??? Run, don't walk away from Holiday if you are considering employment or placing a love one in a facility.

Provided by SuperpagesThe Holiday home my Mom moved into 3 months ago (in Athens,Georgia) is darned near unfit for her to live in. They run out of food nearly every meal, they don't prepare what is on the menu, the "chef" has no professional training, mealtime takes an hour and a half because they are so disorganized, the bus driver who takes folks to stores, appts, etc. talks on her phone the whole time she's driving, I have yet to find a fire evacuation map posted anywhere, there is only ONE elevator in the 3 story building, the managers don't seem to care about any of this. I will be looking immediately for a decent, caring place for my mom. Do not put your loved one in this place.

Provided by SuperpagesThis place is a Joke. All they worry about is the money and they heard their residents thru like cattle picking their pockets as they go thru the fence. I would not recomend this place to my worst enemy. They are not good to there staff, which they keep saying they are their most important asset, they fire a employee every three days, they rip there residents off, they do not care about them, and they are only worried about money nothing about people. Don't worry, it is just the plain truth!!!!!

Provided by SuperpagesDo not let a loved one sign a contract with these people. They pushed and pushed and then when my 85 year old grief stricken mother changed her mind 3 days later and before she ever took possession of the non-handicap accessible apartment they said they are standing firm and they are taking her for a total of $9,000+ for a place she never moved in to.

Provided by SuperpagesI would give this company a minus 5 - my mother passed away in October and we thought this would be a good place for my father to live so he wasn't alone - paid the "deposit" and within 48 hours my dad had changed his mind - could not leave his house and my mom. We gave a notice of cancelled move in 14 days prior to his move in date and not only am I have to hassle this company to try and get the "deposit" back but they are also trying to charge my father for 30 days when he never even moved in. Apparently they do not care about seniors only the bottom line and what they can steal from vulnerable adults. I am so thankful that my dad never moved in as I have a feeling they would have scammed every nickle out of his account. Do not put your parents here - and do not trust one single word they tell you.

Provided by SuperpagesI live in a holiday retirement community and I would not even give it a one star rating, The maintenance is bad and the food is even worst. To bad they are only concerned about the bottom line and not the people in there communities

Provided by SuperpagesHoliday Retirement is messed up. They are trying to rebuild, but one big problem, they did not start from the ground up. Quality is last on managements minds. The holiday touch is all lip service. Management does not support the building management team at all. They pressure, and constantly threaten you with your job. All and all managers are very creepy. The regional calls want to make you vomit. Do yourself a favor, if you are being interviewed with Holiday, RUN! Until they rebuild from the ground up, and hire real leadership, they are going to keep spiraling down. They are up 55% in 2011, but that is through renting to people that should be in skilled nursing. Community managers don't stay very long, they don't do a good job training and offer little to no support.

Provided by SuperpagesWell, I had another bad experience with Bridgecreek in West Covina. I called to ask some questions about my father moving out and someone named Jamie answered the phone. She said that everyone that worked there was fired or quit and she was from the corporate office. She could not answer any of my questions and couldn't even find my father in the system. I asked her if I would get a bill for his last month there and how much did I owe and would we get a late charge for not paying on time and she said I should know this and she hung up right in my face, but not before giving me the wrong amount due. She was obviously stressed out from the days events and took it out on me. Please be careful before you move your beloved parent into this place. The people are very rude and don't care a thing about you or your parent.

Provided by SuperpagesI'm an employee of Holiday and I've had a great experience working for the company! I feel very well cared for as an employee and know firsthand that our residents are VERY important to us. Our community is very warm, genuine, and very family-like. I'd be very happy if any of my grandparents chose to live here!
