I was prescribed a medicine, and was having very bad side affects. Couldn't stay awake feeling very tired, hot & cold chills, etc. I mentioned the side affects to the dr. She felt continuing with the medicine would be best, and the side affects would just go away on their own. They didn't they got worse, and I started passing out. I googled the medicine, and their own website said if you experience any of these side affects stop taking immediately, and consult your dr. So that's what I did, but after a week of no even a call back to say come in. The dr could care less that I wasn't on my medication, and had absolutely no response to the fact I was passing out from it.

I've seen Dr. Tyson for a couple years now. Recently I called her office to get a refill as I was about to run out of my rx as I had not picked one up n the refill expired after that time period, and after 4 calls 3 days in a row-leaving messages n talking to staff who said they would relay the message, with no results I finally resorted to calling her directly. She was upset with me for calling after hours for just a refill, but I did get my rx refilled promptly. When I saw her in person we talked about it as I felt angry and neglected, n she explained the situation from her end tho could not explain what had happened with her office staff and my messages. Nonetheless after that pretty major speed bump I felt that, and was reassured that she would not abandon me and I think she also understood my frustration at not being able to get a message through. Not many Doctors will reassure you in that way and it was comforting to know, despite my anger/confusion over that, that she cared.

Dr Tyson worked with me for many years, and finally I am sane. She explains everything along the way, always works with patient's feelings, and gets their by-in before doing anything. She is the smartest woman I've ever met. I had many many drs before her, and she is the only one who stuck with me.

I have been a patient of Dr. Tyson's for several years and have always had problems with her receptionists. The one currently staffing the Lakeland office is one of the most ineffective people I've ever dealt with. Voicemail messages are rarely if ever returned, I almost never reach a person when I try to call, and if I do reach the receptionist, she is rude, makes HUGE mistakes with scheduling and prescription requests, and sometimes takes several days to correct these errors.



I have seen six or seven other psychiatrists in my lifetime and none have been as compassionate, helpful, and effective as Dr. Tyson. Unfortunately, you have to go through the receptionists to get to her. It's a very poor situation to be in. I feel like patients should be given the same respect as paying customers at any other type of business, but I have not received that respect from Dr. Tyson's receptionists.

It was extremely difficult to get through to this Dr. I made mult phone calls and left messages. I still have not received a call back. They make it clear that you will be charged if you do not talk with a real person if you need to cancel your appt. 24 hrs ahead of time but do not give you instructions on haw to reach anyone in the office to talk with a real person.
