Rebecca Schwartzberg, PhD, MSc, sees patients at our Grasslands Campus and loves to partner with her patients on their journey to health and healing. How long have you worked in your field? I officially began working as a therapist in 1996, and I actually started working in the psychology field while in college in 1990, working in a group home for children and adolescents with serious mental illness. Describe your clinical specialties. My professional specialties include treating trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, women’s behavioral health (infertility, postpartum anxiety and depression), veterans’ behavioral health, physician/provider burnout, and organizational consulting/education and diagnosing and treating addiction. What is your patient care philosophy? My approach is comprehensive, personalized, and evidence-based in order to provide the best possible chances of success and relief while helping others on their life’s journey. I believe in helping others gain the courage and empowerment needed to live their lives so their journey can be as positive as they can make it! What would you like people to know about you as a physician? Getting help can be life changing and can provide the knowledge, skills and connection you need to achieve your goals. You don’t have to do this alone; nobody should have to go it alone. I would love to be a part of your journey to healing, courage and resilience. Why did you decide to become a physician? I have known for years that there is a lot of pain and illness in the world. I decided when I was in 6th grade that I really needed to be a part of reducing the pain or burden of the world’s mental health. This has always been a part of who I am, and I have always wanted to do my part. Everything I have done from 6th grade on was for this one life’s purpose. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I enjoy that moment in time when the person I am sitting with has that “Aha” moment when it all comes together and they let something go that ultimately relieves their pain or shifts their awareness so that it changes their lives. How does your work improve lives? It is my hope that through psychological intervention, an individual’s life satisfaction or quality of life, relationships, personal resilience, and self-perception can improve so they can have the courage to stay life’s course. What else would you like to share with our readers?Things can change for you. You have more power or choice than you may think. It takes courage to change something, but the end is far more rewarding than you expect. What are some interesting facts about you? I am an avid reader; I like to watch dance shows; and I like creating culturally significant rock gardens.
