We contacted Applewood Quality Builders for a stamped concrete patio. Tom Yang came to our house, ran in and took measurements, then ran out. We received the quote the next day and we were very pleased with his other customer reviews as well as his price. We asked shortly afterwards if we could have rounded corners on our patio instead of square ones. Tom immediately informed us that he didn't "agree" with our choice because of architectural differences--he would charge $75.00 additional for each corner should we want them rounded. We were slightly annoyed, but decided to continue to see if we could have steps that were not square, but rather were semi-circular in design and if that would cost extra. Tom called my husband and asked him to call him back. My husband called Tom back again and again until I finally stepped in and called Tom. I explained to Tom what we wanted and even offered to solid model a replica of what I was asking for because of his language barrier. He once again reiterated that he did not like our architectural preference on the rounded corners. I expressed that I was displeased with his constant architectural disapproval and informed him that I had other contractors that bid us and were including a simple rounded corner. Tom didn't want me to send the solid model of the steps I was asking about, and he told me he would rather I take my business elsewhere. I am quite discontent with his business professionalism. All cultural and lingual discrepancies aside, good business does not include hounding your client about your architectural disapproval. If you do get a bid from Tom Yang for a stamped concrete patio, please be aware that you will get the basics and no consideration for any "design preference" whether you wish to pay the extra charge or not. I had high hopes Mr. Yang. I wish you all of the best and I hope you treat future customers with more respect.
