I needed a Structural Engineer for a small residential project, things started out good; Cecil the owner made an appointment to survey our project within a few days of calling; he came out looked at our project and promised plans a few days later. His quoted rate was $75 per hour which is about $50-$75/hr cheaper than others in the area. From our initial meeting everything sounded good, I was a little surprised he didn't write anything down on his visit, he took our rough drawings did some looking around and told us he would have a plan to us within a few days.



This is where the good vibes ended; the date Cecil promised us plans by passed without any contact, I waited a couple of days left a voice mail and email for status and another couple days passed without hearing anything. I then happened to catch him answering the phone one afternoon, inquired about the status of our plans, he didn't offer any apologizes, said he was busy and would have them done in 2 days. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, however 2 days passed and again nothing.



The second time around I went through the same drill, left a voice mail and sent an email and nothing... I called at various times throughout the day and after a few days was able to catch him again. He offered the same excuse that it was a busy time, I told him to just tell me what he could do, I didn't demand anything, just asked for him to let me know when he will have time and then stick to it. He said he would have time that afternoon or evening and would have plans back to me within 1 day. I thought great!!



For the third time Cecil failed to meet his commitment, I tried again to email and left voice mails, but he never returned the calls. In the end I cut ties with Cecil and went with another company; however all told I wasted nearly a month waiting on Cecil at Engineered Construction.



I read on other sites similar reviews, I guess I thought I would be lucky and the price was right, but this was a major headache. I had an easy project, no demands, just wanted to know what to expect from Cecil, but this seemed to be too much. I honestly don't know how a business like this makes it; you have a patient paying customer willing to work with your timelines, but you miss commitments, don't call them back, make vague excuses and burn them multiple times.



The price is attractive, but the experience has been a complete waste, I recommend to avoid. Add to that the lack of notes and measurements taken on initial consultation I don't really expect I would have gotten anything quality anyways.
