Provided by YP.comI started training in the martial arts when I was 14 and have tried other schools as I have traveled around the country. However, this school is outstanding. The instructor has won many titles and awards due to his committment to the art and his involvement in the community. He is genuinely interested in his students and provides an excellent quality of instruction, taking care to teach not only proper techniques, but also proper attitude, which helps to build character in the younger students.
The dojo often has special events such as apprehending seminars, womens' self defense classes, kendo seminars, special weapons seminars, ground fighting seminars, tournaments, Tai-chi seminars, and yoga on Saturdays. There are even fun group events from time-to-time.
The Grand Master, Shihan Doversola has trained many Hollywood celebrities and has acted as an advisor to the film industry. The style is very old and was honed to perfection by its Okinawan practitioners during the Japanese conquest of Okinawa, so it is rich intradition and very effective.
There is no eastern philosophy or religion incorporated into the teaching for those who may be uncomfortable with such things.
I love this school for many reasons and feel very fortunate to have been part of not only this group of people, but also of this fascinating art.
There are free lessons for an introductory period for anyone who is interested in trying it out.
