Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County, formerly known as the Shelter for Abused Women, is a program that offers a range of emergency shelter, education, legal, outreach, volunteer, individual and group counseling, and information and referral services. It emergency shelter services provides temporary housing for abused women and children. The program conducts the Bridge Housing project, which offers transitional housing and supportive services for nearly ten women and children. Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County is a program administered by the Community Action Program of Lancaster County, which is a private, nonprofit human services and community development agency that was founded in 1966. Community Action Program of Lancaster County, also known as CAP, provides assistance for low-income families in a variety of matters. It is registered with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations. The organization is located in Lancaster, Pa.
