This is the BEST pediatric dental practice in Lancaster, York, or Harrisburg! Dr. Anil Shah is quick to gain trust with children, and is so amazingly respectful and descriptive in what he is going to do as a plan to aid in setting your child up for a lifetime of sound dental practices for your child's dental health. He is also the first dentists around to use Silver Dental Coatings. Although this practice is thousands of years old, the FDA has just approved this process a while ago. Instead of drilling and causing more pain and trauma for your child, physically and mentally (later causing your child to hate the dentist) he cleans the tooth very well and coats it with the silver coating. This stops the decay, and then he fills it! Even better, although insurance does NOT cover this process (and dentists usually charge $60 a tooth) Dr. Shah only charges $15 a tooth! so everyone can afford it. The dental hygienists are all amazing as well. Keep in mind, if parents do not help care for their child's dental health from a the development of the child's first teeth, they will have a bad experience no matter where they go. Thank You Lanc Dental Arts Staff!

We've been patients for a few years, mostly because of the lack of offices in our area. The Lancaster location in particular is outdated, dirty, and lacks privacy. The staff are inattentive and lack courtesy and accuracy (my son was called three different names during our visit, including the first and last name of a stranger who will probably end up charged for our appointment).

The practice as a whole is run extremely poorly; we receive constant billing errors (don't have twins, folks, they will apparently only accurately report one to insurance), haven't updated our insurance information in 4 years (still have a previous employer's data in their system despite providing insurance identification constantly), and provide the standard "call your provider" answers when the mistake occurs on their end.

Unfortunately, this is not a one time bad visit, which we would be likely to overlook. I believe the actual doctors do good work, but it's almost impossible to see that forest through the trees.

Find another place, folks.

Went in for a cleaning and everyone was super nice! It was my first time there and the front desk was really welcoming. I'm surprised by the reviews below because my experience was really good.

Get a second opinion.

I had been going to Lancaster Dental Arts every 6 months for cleanings for about 1.5 years. Last time I went they told me I had early signs of gingivitis. I brush my teeth twice per day and I have no bleeding or inflamed gums. They wanted to check my insurance and see if I could come in every 3 months instead of 6. This seemed a little shady to me especially because they never said anything about my gums being unhealthy in my last 6 month check up.

It gets worse....During that same visit the dentist came in, looked in my month and told me I had 5 cavities. He did not touch my teeth, he hardly even examed them. The hygienist seemed as surprised as me with his diagnosis. She had just cleaned and fully examined my teeth and she did not mention to the dentist any issues. I asked him how I could have developed 5 cavities in the last 6 months. He gave me some answer about being wanting to be proactive and that the other dentist might not have felt it was necessary. He had me go out to the lobby and the receptionist put me on a payment plan. I would have had to pay $500 after insurance coverage to have all of them filled.

My gut was telling me something wasn't right about his diagnosis so I got a second opinion. I went to a different dentist office, got a full exam and they told me that I have NO cavities! When I told them what Lancaster Dental Arts had said they were speechless. They said that my teeth look great and I do not have any signs of gingivitis or tooth decay.

Initial contact

As you read this review, keep in mind that I was in medicine for over 20 years and am accustomed to delivering a certain level of quality care. I had the opportunity to work in some very high caliber facilities. Their initial greeting was less than personable. I was told to be there 15 minutes prior to my appointment to fill out paperwork. I was immediately directed to take a seat around the corner in the waiting room. Scheduled appointment was 3:45 PM. At 4 PM was called front to do paperwork. Already 15 minutes past appointment time. Office staff did not appear to be well versed in insurance practices and billings. 4:50 PM was finally called back to be seen. Staff did not appear to be very friendly at all. When I asked the most basic of questions they appeared to get defensive. While in the exam room I noticed a sterile kit that had been autoclaved. What I noticed is that the autoclave tape that had the black stripes proving it was sterile had been compromised and that more tape had been applied but had not been autoclaved there were no black stripes. If there is any question of something not being sterile it is not sterile. Dr. did not even examine my son. All he did was look at the x-rays. Appeared squiffy when talking about pain management options. Very leery going into the surgery phase.

Horrible

Horrible. Definitely do not know how these people are in business. To let everyone know if you are trying to get braces do not go here. They are only in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays if they feel like showing up. I left over 6 messages to the staff and them to the office manager. I never received one call. They are very unprofessional and If your going to spend 3500 or more on braces I would stay clear away from this company. There are cheaper and more professional orthodontist that are open 5 days a week. I will be telling as many people as I know to Pass along to as many people they know to never step a foot in this dentist office.
