Don't ask for coffee

Los Tapatios Restaurant in Lancaster Texas on the square.

Have you ever visited this restaurant? Well after visiting this restaurant on Friday evening January 30, 2009 I don’t think I will ever venture there again.

I went there to get some coffee about 7:30 pm. I was wanting to get some coffee to take to a family function I was attending nearby only I found out that the restaurant did not have any coffee made. I asked them if they could make some coffee for me. They told me that they would make some coffee for us. I was fine with waiting and told them that I would wait.

I went out side while I assumed that they were making the coffee. Twenty minutes later I went back inside only to find that they had never even put the coffee on to make. When I asked them if the coffee was ready the lady said “NO!! I haven’t maid it yet.” She went off on me all about how busy they were. I counted 6 tables in the place that had people sitting at them. I hope that none of those customers wanted coffee. The lady that I was speaking too was so rude that I asked to speak to the manager. I was informed by her that she was the manager. Oops. At that point it became clear to me why all the other employees had the attitude that they did. I did not find this place to have a friendly atmosphere.

By this time I am getting irritated and I guess my years as a restaurant manager began to kick in. I started taking note of the conditions of the restaurant. I was standing where I had a clear view of the kitchen and I observed the cook place food on a plate with his bare hands without a glove. Then the cook went on to fondle the food with his bare hands to get the food arranged on the plate. Furthermore the overall cleanliness of the restaurant would never had passed any health inspections that the restaurants I managed had to go through.

Needless to say after the confrontation with the restaurants manager I chose to leave and not wait for them to make the coffee.

I did ask the manager if the had ever heard of Craigslist Rant and Rave. She informed me that she had no knowledge of Craigslist. I told her that she should look it up and she would be able to read about my experience at her restaurant.

For those of you that are not familiar with this restaurant it is located on the square in downtown Lancaster Texas.
