On January 8th, 1949 charter #6016 was granted to the Lansing Fisher Federal Credit Union. Each of the original members subscribed to one, $5.00 share of the cooperative, securing their financial future and a voice in the Credit Union. Many of the original members who worked at Fisher Body took advantage of the "payroll deduction system," which consisted of John walking the factory floor taking deposits in a steel lunch pail with all records kept by hand! At the end of 1950, the Credit Union had 301 members and assets totaled $16,709.66 ($164,373.13 as adjusted for inflation!) The credit union operated out of Tome's home for many years until Auto Body Credit Union moved to a building at 320 Clare Street. In 1981, Auto Body Credit Union merged with Co-Op Credit Union of Lansing, establishing two locations, and in 1986, a third branch was started. In 2008, Auto Body Credit Union merged with Auto Body Workers Credit Union of Ionia and gained its first branch in Ionia County, MI. In 2013, Astera expanded into Montcalm County with a branch in Greenville. Astera currently has 5 branches, in addition to its administrative branch--serving 22 counties of the beautiful state of Michigan.

I have always had a wonderful experience with Astera Credit Union! Their staff is always friendly, knowledgeable & willing to help me with whatever questions I may have. I do most of my banking online now as I now live out of state, but with their shared branching & helpful phone representative I always have access to my funds! I love Astera C.U. & would highly recommend them to everyone I know. My ability to maintain my account with them even though I no longer live in Michigan goes a long way, I didn’t have to go through the inconvenience of opening a new account somewhere else when I moved. They saved me so much time & hassle!

The worst credit union i have ...

The worst credit union i have ever be with. I have used them for over 6 years and they weren't even willing to give me a 1000 dollor loan for an emergency fix for my truck, when i make 400 every friday and deposit it all. They do EVERYTHING by mail and never call to verify any information.So if your ever negative they will only send you a letter, wouldn't you prefer to know right away instead of 2 days later? Search other options before going with this "credit union"

Members with home banking can setup alerts to have e-mail notifications immediately sent to them when account balances fall below a set amount or the account has been over drafted. It is also possible to apply for loans, open additional accounts and apply for membership online.
