Provided by YP.comI received a call at approximately 10:04 AM this morning from a gentleman claiming he needed to know where to make a delivery of "bundles of polyester" to me. The number he called from is 1-956-334-9215. I told him I did not know what he was talking about, as I had not ordered any polyester from any company. I asked how he obtained my cell phone number. He said he got it from the company that runs my storage unit (AAAA Self Storage on Trimble Road in Southern Pines North Carolina). The call ended and I called my storage unit. The customer service rep advised me that the gentleman called the storage unit and asked for me specifically, which was why he gave him my contact information. I called my daughter and asked her to contact the first gentleman to find out what he was talking about. She called and he told her the same thing he told me – that he had a load of “polyester bundles” to be delivered to me. She told him neither of us knew what he was talking about and that I had not ordered anything like that. He said the "polyester bundle" order originated from Mexico and was sent to his company to be shipped to me in North Carolina. She asked him several times where he got my contact information from. He said the storage unit representative gave it to him. She then asked how he knew to contact the storage unit to get ahold of me. He kept saying that it was the guy he spoke to this morning. What he kept saying was that the storage unit person gave him the number to the storage unit facility. She told him that made no sense at all. (Being Hispanic, I can say that I believe the gentleman thought his thick Spanish accent was going to get him off the hook as far as answering questions and having us understand him.) After asking him multiple times for the name of his business and/or a phone number to call, he stated he worked for Bryans. This was after he repeatedly refused to give either to her. My daughter found contact information for Bryan’s Express Inc. on the internet and called their business number. When she called, a gentleman answered the phone with, “Hello.” There was no mention of a business. She told him she was calling because this was listed as the phone number for Bryans Express and one of their drivers called my mother earlier that morning. He verified that she called the correct number for Bryans and that he was the dispatcher. She then told him that I was contacted about an incorrect order to be delivered to me. He promptly asked what state she was calling from (this was the first thing he asked). She said North Carolina and he very promptly said, "Oh, don't worry about it. You can disregard it." She told him she wanted to know how they got my name and contact information to the storage unit company. He said he got the phone number from the truck driver who called earlier. She told him that the truck driver told her that he got the contact information from the dispatcher. After that, he stated he got it off of the internet. She told him she wanted to know what website had my name associated with my storage unit. He did not have an answer and would not tell her how my information was obtained. She asked him what his name was. He replied, “Ray.” He said he would look into it and would call her back. We are not expecting a call back because of how shady both gentlemen were. Neither wanted to answer any questions about any of it.
I still do not know EXACTLY how Bryans Express obtained my name and phone number. Neither gentlemen we spoke to had an answer and only wanted to give us the runaround as far as answering questions about how my information was obtained. This is a blatant and ILLEGAL invasion of my privacy. Anyone who deals with this business should BEWARE.
