NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY! Wheneve...

NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY! Whenever I originally moved into this apartment complex, one of my FIRST questions was whether or not there was a military clause in the lease in the event that I receive orders to relocate. There in fact is, and I was told that they definitely work with military. So I proceeded with the move-in, and at the time, the staff seemed SO well-informed and SO friendly. Well, a coworker of mine who lived in the same complex received orders. He brought in a copy of his orders with a date of when he would be leaving the country. First, they told him that the paperwork he turned in weren't "real orders"... I'm SURE that of all people that can identify orders, the AMAZING staff at the Pavilions can. Then, they gave him a hard time about exactly what date he would be able to get out of his lease... because while his orders did state that he was leaving the country on a certain date, they decided to only consider the RNLTD (which, of course, was a later date). For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a RNLTD is... it is the very latest date that you are allowed to check-in at your next base... aka report no later than date. It wasn't until one of our supervisors came in for himself threatening to get our legal office involved, because what they were doing was illegal, that they finally gave in.

Well, I just received orders myself... and already, I'm dealing with the same ridiculous nonsense that my coworker had to deal with. For being in an area that has 4 military bases nearby, you would think the staff would be familiar with laws associated with the military. Not so much. In fact, one of the staff told my husband point blank that they do not honor the Soldier's and Sailor's Civil Relief Act, but that they "appreciate our service and what we do." Well, luckily we anticipated this, and had a hard copy of the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act, which replaced the Soldier's and Sailor's Civil Relief Act years ago (nice to see that they're up to date on what goes on in the world). It clearly states that it is MANDATORY to terminate a lease early if the member has PCS orders...

Bottom line, these people, including management, will give you a hard time about anything and everything. There are other things I've had to deal with aside from the issues about being in the military with orders. You can hear every word being said in the room next to you, there are roaches in the first floor apartments... I'm truly, truly dreading dealing with the move-out process with these people.

NOT resort living

Sure it looks pretty on the outside but the appliances are super cheap. There are no bins in their tiny refrigerators, the dishwasher is super noisy, and the washer and dryer are the cheapest you can buy. The dryer never dried my clothes right, I had to iron everything. The walls are thin, I could hear my neighbors walk to their bathroom and flush. And the first review was right, you can never talk to a manager or the owners, but I think they are right upstairs. They do charge you for ruined carpet that was ruined when you move in and it unravels when you vacumn. And forget about getting your deposit back, I still haven't seen mine! They wait to tell you about the carpet charges until your move in day when they make you sign that you agree to pay $25 per square foot for carpet damages which can add up if they feel they need to pull a large piece of carpet to replace a one inch stain. Good Luck to you if you dare try this place. It is pretty but beware once they've got you you're at their mercy.
