The good thing about Corey, ow...

The good thing about Corey, owner of WindPower Sports, is that he's usually pleasant to speak with and will spend time to educate you. However, my transaction with him was less than pleasant. At the bottom of this post, I've written a full timeline. However, it's long (like the transaction), so the "TOO LONG, WON'T READ IT" version goes like this:

Corey took more than a month to send my kite, and he sent it in a different color pattern than he shows on his website. He refused to pay return shipping, as he stated, "I'm giving you your money back. Isn't that enough? I mean, it's just a color thing. There's nothing wrong with the kite." Apparently, whether a customer receives the correct color is unimportant to him. Furthermore, after he received my return, he delayed my refund.

April1:I made a website order early in the morning. I did not receive shipping info by late in the day, so I called. Corey said he didn't have the kite in stock. http://www.windpowersports.com states that Corey will email you if your order is out of stock, but I didn't receive this info until calling. On a positive note, Corey educated me on the basics of Rev flying, and he recommended a different kite, a 1.5 SLE. He said he'd be in the desert for the remainder of the week and wouldn't ship the kite until after, giving me some time to think.

April5:I took Corey's advice and switched my order. I informed him by email, to which he did not respond.

April8:I called to confirm my change. Corey hadn't seen my email but took my change over the phone.

April17:I called to see if he had sent my kite. He hadn't. Also, when I attempted to confirm the color, he said had just sold his only 1.5 SLE in that color to someone else. I believe he received my kite, forgot it was mine, and sold it. He said he'd "order" (reorder) it from CA.

April18:As it should've only taken one day for shipment from CA to NV, I called to see if Corey had received/sent my kite. He had not received it. I resigned myself to trust Corey from this point forward to take care of the transaction without checking in again.

May10:The kite arrived in a different color pattern than Corey shows on his website.

May11:I called regarding the color. He said the website was outdated and there was a new 2013 color lineup. The 2013 red/black/white color is the one I received. I told him I'd think about it and decide what to do. He kindly spent some to educate me, but I was losing patience.

May15:I called to tell Corey I'd return the kite and to ask for a shipping label. However, he refused to pay for shipping, stating, "I'm giving you your money back. Isn't that enough? I mean, it's just a color thing. There's nothing wrong with the kite." I argued that I received the wrong item because his website showed the wrong picture, but he refused again. Given that I'd read about a problem that acutepancreatitis had with Corey issuing a refund (http://lasvegas.citysearch.com/profile/7010124/las_vegas_nv/wind_power_sports_inc.html), I didn't want to upset him so much as to risk a similar problem. Therefore, I thanked him for offering a refund and said goodbye. After poorly handling my transaction and taking over a month to deliver my kite, Corey would not make the gesture of paying for my return shipping because he believed my having the correct color was unimportant. The $16 shipping is less of an issue than my being insulted by his apathy.

May20:I shipped the kite, paying for signature delivery confirmation. I called to let him know the kite was on its way. He said he'd issue my refund immediately after reception.

May22:I received signature delivery confirmation via USPS.

May25:After waiting a few days and not seeing a refund hit my credit card, I called Corey. He said he received the kite yesterday, the 24th, even though I had his signature from the 22nd. He said, "I'm issuing the refund right now."

May28:The refund hit my credit card.
