It is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The Laurel Police Department maintains a patrol division that provides uniformed patrol, crime prevention, emergency incident response, accident investigation, traffic laws enforcement, and ordinance and statute enforcement services. The department also has investigative, services and specialized functions divisions.
